CATERING FAQs
-
We offer a range of catering options — from simple drop-off meals to full-service events with onsite chefs, servers, and coordinated rentals. Whether you’re hosting a work lunch, a family celebration, or an elevated dinner party, we can tailor the food and service to match the occasion.
-
We don’t require a minimum guest count. While most of our events are under 100 guests, we can comfortably cater groups up to 200 depending on the menu and service style.
-
Menu choices, ingredients, and the number of courses affect pricing more than the service style. In general, buffet service is the least labor-intensive, followed by family-style, with plated dinners requiring the most staff. We’re happy to walk through the options and help you choose the format that fits your event and your budget.
-
Every event has different needs depending on size, style, schedule, and location. We’ll help you determine the right number of chefs, servers, and bartenders to keep everything running smoothly — long lines and hungry guests distract from the experience.
As a broad guideline:
• 1 server per 20–25 guests for appetizer buffets
• 1 server per 15–20 guests for buffet or family-style dinners
• 1 server per 10 guests for plated mealsLabor is billed hourly, with a 5-hour minimum.
-
Yes. We can arrive early to set tables, arrange service areas, polish glasses, place chairs, and handle other essentials. After the event, we’ll clean up and pack out. There is no overtime fee for teardown.
-
We can absolutely accomodate. We regularly design menus that incorporate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly dishes. Just let us know your group’s needs in advance.
-
We don’t make traditional tiered wedding cakes, but we’re happy to recommend local bakeries that do. If you’d like, we can provide a selection of layer cakes, cupcakes, pies, or other desserts for a more relaxed or rustic-style celebration.
-
No. If we are catering your event, we’re happy to cut and serve your cake at no additional cost.
-
Your estimate is based on a minimum guest count. If your number drops below that minimum, the per-person price may need to be adjusted. You can update your guest count up to 10 days before the event.
-
We avoid using chafing dishes because they can compromise the texture and quality of fresh, seasonal food. Instead, we serve a mix of hot, room-temperature, and cold dishes, ensuring everything arrives and is served at its best.
-
East Alder Table offers everything from simple lunches to multi-course dinners, and there’s almost always a way to align the menu and service with your budget.
We have two non-negotiables:
We don’t under-staff events.
We don’t under-portion food.
Beyond that, we can adjust the menu, beverages, service style, rentals, and overall flow to keep things affordable without sacrificing quality. Compostable tableware is a great option for casual gatherings. For summer events, a picnic-style menu can be both festive and cost-effective.
Tell us what you have in mind — we’re happy to collaborate on creative ways to make your event memorable and budget-friendly.
